My goal here is to give you 100% clarity on “what to do next” and “where I am now” because frankly…
It’s the only way you can eliminate any hint of overwhelm as it relates to “how to study better”!
So, here’s the roadmap — and I’ll elaborate right after.
First and foremost comes the blog.
There’s quite a lot of content at the blog, and that’s also where a lot of people discover the site.
I haven’t posted much from 2020 to 2022, but at the very least, I’ve tried to keep my writing focused on solving a specific problem.
As of writing this, most of these problems are what common Anki users face. But lately I’ve been trying to focus on the general population of students.
That being said, I’ve created content that cover studying in general, too — in my newsletter.

The second step in the roadmap is to join my email trainings. My training emails distill a lot of my experience from using and teaching study techniques for more than 6 years, for example:
- Why “poor memory” is just a darn myth — as supported by 2 studies (1 – neuroscience; 1 – cognitive psychology)
- The “3-step” key to studying smarter
- Why Active Recall/Spaced Repetition alone is NOT enough
- What’s really possible even for the busiest students when they start using smart study techniques

If you’re curious about the lessons inside, I’ve taught them to many close friends and students, and not only did they work once — they’ve worked repeatedly.
But, of course, there’s only so much I could share in a bunch of emails.
I could spend entire days sharing what tactics to do and how to think about them, and it would always need further explaining.

I feel like it’s a more “optional” part of this sequence, but if you are at a point where you know all the study techniques but aren’t getting the results you expect, this is where you should begin instead of the study system course.
I’m not just speculating, either, because many readers have asked me, “Will Simple Study System help me?” when they see the course posted at the academy.
And honestly, when I find out that they haven’t built up the “basics” yet and the problem they’re having is just something small, I discourage them from taking it and offer advice for free instead.

Why do this and go against my self-interest?
Because the study system course contains me sharing how to integrate all the techniques into simple, holistic workflows — which makes it REALLY HARD mentally.
Sure, I’ve made it really easy to implement but there’s just no escape that effective techniques are much harder on the “mental muscles.”
That’s why I thought I needed a different solution.
Eventually, I came to the conclusion that the course structure wasn’t the problem, but rather the lack of a stepping stone.
Because once you implement these skills and get them to a more “fluent” level, Simple Study System will become easy.

Lastly, we have the efficiency optimizations.

Simple Study System and Anki Like a Pro are my biggest courses, and that makes them promise the biggest results — but it is certainly NOT for total beginners to study techniques.
While I structured it in a way that gets you quicker results early on, the skill development parts do make for some “setup time”.
If you’re not ready for it, this could actually give you a more “defeated” rather than “empowered” experience.
The truth is that study techniques that make you study FAST are, in fact, really HARD.
They’re not easy at all and they’re draining. I mean, I had to do all kinds of thinking just to get to that system.
But all I can say is that the rewards are amazing.
You could study a textbook or a lecture and not touch it in weeks — and still remember it…
You could handle hundreds of materials and study multiple subjects without getting overwhelmed…
And best of all, you’re learning and remembering a lot without spending a lot of time studying…
Sure, you are more tired because you’re using more “active” learning tactics…
But that’s really where the best part comes in:
You are happier, you are achieving your goals, and it actually helps you sleep better at night 😀
Both of these courses contain my best-kept “secrets” to ranking at the top 0.3% of students in a huge engineering board exam, so you can rest assured that everything you’ll find are experience-based.
Now, if you think you’re ready for it, I really recommend going with SSS first and then ALP unless you already have a systematic way of approaching textbooks and lectures.
Now all that hype aside…
If you’ve taken AT LEAST my newsletter email trainings, you can certainly take BOTH right away.
Likewise, if you’re not familiar with study techniques or if you’re not even exposed my way of thinking about having “poor memory” or “slow learning speed”, go back to the newsletter and get that out of the way.
I want you to have all the good stuff — good study experience and good results! If you don’t have both, then it means I haven’t done my job as a mentor.
On the other hand, if you’re ready for it, take the leap and build a system that you’ll be able to use for life.

Closing Thoughts
Just to be clear…
This is by no means the “only way” to study smarter. You could certainly use free content and arrive to the same systems that I share in the courses. I’d have to admit that it’s possible 100%.
So you really have two possible options here.
The first option is to figure things out for yourself. Takes time, but with enough dedication, you’ll get there.
The second option is to follow a proven path that somebody has already taken.
You’ll know what to expect, you’ll know “what works” without needing to fail a lot of times, you’ll know if you’re doing the right thing, you’ll know whether you’re implementing correctly, and most importantly, you can rest assured that your efforts will translate into results.
